How to Connect to Cloudflare

Step 1: Login to Cloudflare

Go to Cloudflare and log in to your account.

Step 2: Select the Site You Want to Connect

In your Cloudflare dashboard, navigate to the account and website you wish to integrate.

Step 3: Generate an API Token

In the dashboard, select “Get API Token”

Click “Create Token”

The initial part of the URL is your zone, it can either be yoursite123abc.zapwp.com or you can use a custom CNAME to make it something like cdn.yoursite.com

Using a Custom CDN Domain

In live optimization mode, your images and assets will load from *.zapwp.com - which is technically unbranded; however we strongly recommend using your own website's domain for serving images and scripts.

The most common domain we see is cdn.yoursite.com - and it can be set up simply within the plugin under CDN Delivery and scrolling to Custom CDN Domain

There you can use any domain you own to serve the optimized images and assets by simply creating a subdomain on the domain you wish to use in your DNS or hosting panel, then adding a new CNAME record pointing to the url specified in the plugin.

After the DNS has propogated (can take up to 48 hours globally) you may enter the full domain into the field and hit save - you may then turn on the feature as desired.

You should be fine to use both local and live mode for WP Compress with caching plugins! 🎉

We simply recommend not doubling up on settings (lazy loading, css / js minify etc.) but fortunately you can toggle on/off any settings in our portal as needed!

Make sure we're bypassing any firewalls or security plugins so that we can download the images, but other than that you should be all set right out of the box!

What are Overflow Credits?

Overflow credits (or one-time credit packs) allow you to optimize outside of your existing monthly quota on a site by site basis!

|| Overflow Credits are extremely useful to handle unforeseen spikes in demand for any given month.

In the example above, we've set a 100,000 credit monthly quota for this website; however, with a 1,000,000 overflow allocation that means if an irregular spike in traffic was to happen (say triple the visitors in April) the remaining 200,000 credits would be pulled from the overflow margin and you'd have 800,000 overflow credits remaining that never expire!

Essentially overflow credits are a buffer zone incase your site goes over in a specific month or can be used without a quota as a one-time bump!
