Using WP Compress with Divi (Best Practices)

Divi is one of the most popular page builders we support. However, Divi has recently introduced its own built-in performance settings.

To get the fastest speeds and avoid site-breaking conflicts, it is crucial that you do not duplicate features. You should have either Divi OR WP Compress handle the optimization—not both.

For the best Core Web Vitals and loading times, we recommend letting WP Compress handle all optimization. Our external infrastructure and global CDN are generally more powerful than the local theme settings.

Step 1: Disable Divi Performance Settings

  1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Divi > Theme Options.
  3. Click on the General tab and scroll down (or look for the Performance tab in newer versions).
  4. Disable the following settings to prevent conflicts:

Why is this better? WP Compress optimizes assets on the cloud and serves them from a global CDN, whereas Divi optimizes them on your local server.

Option 2: Using Divi's Native Optimization

If you prefer to use Divi's built-in performance tools, you must ensure WP Compress is not trying to do the same job.

  1. Keep your preferred settings enabled in Divi > Theme Options.
  2. Go to WP Compress > Settings.
  3. Turn OFF the overlapping features, all performance tweaks.
  4. You can still use WP Compress for Image Compression and CDN Delivery, but leave the asset handling to Divi.

Important: If you see layout issues or "broken" styles, it is almost always because both Divi and WP Compress are trying to minify the same CSS file. Please choose only one method!

Static CSS File Generation

Divi often saves a static CSS file to speed up loading.

  • Location: Divi > Theme Options > Builder > Advanced > Static CSS File Generation.
  • Recommendation: If you change your design and don't see the update, click "Clear" next to this setting in Divi, and then "Clear Cache" in WP Compress.
